cupcake

FYI: A pretty cupcake is known to relieve stress.

Real Simple

Over the course of the semester I have fallen in love with magazines. When I graduated college I decided that I should probably start saving money and magazines...along with Starbucks coffee were the first to go. I picked up both of these habits in three short months. The magazines for research and, well...the coffee...to stay awake.

I found this little blurb in this months Real Simple (they really are the best magazine ever.)

my mother's 15 simple rules
1. The legs are the last thing to go.
2. When you're sad, don't fight it - accessorize it. Get some gin and cigarettes, then play Edith Piaf until the CD starts to skip.
3. Knowing how to roast red peppers will impress more people than you'd think.
4. It's OK to read at the table.
5. But it's never OK to watch TV at the table.
6. You can always substitute white wine for vermouth in a martini.
7. Everything tastes better if it's served by candlelight.
8. If nothing matches, no matter. That's just another reason for candlelight.
9. Do not try to order in Frence at a French restaurant unless you are French.
10. Unexpected gifts are the most appreciated.
11. At work, find the people who can fix things - the copier, mistakes in your expense report - and then be very, very nice to them.
12. The cheap caviar is still quite good.
13. These are five things that will always make you happy if you have them in your home: flowers, a lovely place to eat a meal, a chilled bottle of white wine, Goldfish crackers, and a cat.
14. If you must leave a party and you don't have a good excuse, spill something on yourself.
15. The proper way to end a conversation is "I'm sorry to let you go."

oh no!

With the end of the semester in sight...and a million things left to do to wrap up the last three projects...I woke up sick this morning. Ugh, I hate feeling miserable and I just don't have time to be sick right now.

Luckily I spent most of the weekend working in flash and feel really comfortable with it being due on saturday. I still need to find music (an instrumental of Camp Granada...or at least one without background laughter). I'm 15 seconds short so I'll have to find a little more movement to add.

In between sleeping today I'm going to work on the writing/design of project 5.

stinkin' blogger!

I don't like that I can't adjust where I want my picture within my type. If I can, i'm not sure how. Anyway, you can guess where that previous photo was suppose to go.

late friday night

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with the amount of projects we have. I felt in control of things last Saturday. That was until I worked for six hours in flash on thursday and only have 26 seconds of my movie done. To be fair I have never used the program before...and a lot of the time was spent trying to figure out if i can import something like a clipping path. (i'm still not sure if i can).

The last project I barely touched. I haven't had a lot of time with the writing. I have found my images and put most of the design together though.

Alright, enough freaking out. Here's something pretty:

I bought it off of etsy tonight and it should be in the mail by next week. I especially love the button. I think I might try my hand at sewing this summer. I'm in love with Amy Butler fabrics and would like to dive into making something. Yay for summer fun projects!

summer to do's

I just remembered about Bengie's. I love this place! It opens this weekend and is sure to go on my summer to do list. :)

wishlist: 1

I've decided from the discussion in class yesterday that it's almost impossible for me to keep a professional blog. I don't have a profession design job..I work for the government in one of the most noncreative jobs on earth. So, everything I do from a design standpoint is a personal thing for me. If I love it, i'm posting it!

I'm making a wish list of all the lovely things I want. Selfish? Maybe, but at least it'll make birthday shopping easier.

My first item is this blue glass necklace from verre new york. Go ahead, gawk.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day isn't until next month..I know. I love planning things. If you plan things ahead of time you can fit in some personal things and I feel like it makes them extra special. :) Especially for my mom.

I saw these little flower candy holders and think they're really cute. The multi color ones are very pretty.
I'm not sure what an acetate cylinder is, but I think I can use the toilet paper tubes.

I love making home made little gifts for people. Consta and I are having a Mother's Day brunch for our mom's next month. I thought I'd make these for them, and his sister. I'm going to use them as centerpiece for the table and then let them have them at the end of the brunch. Hooray for dual purpose! :)
